1. Switch to white sheets and towels: I once heard on HGTV that hotels and resorts only use white sheets because it makes the guest feel clean. And I couldn’t agree more. I always feel like my crisp white sheets are like going to bed on vacation in a hotel.
2. Use matting on all of your pictures: If you don’t have mats for your picture frames-get some. They instantly make your photos and artwork like you had them professionally matted and will make people think you spent way more money on them (even if they’re just photos off your iPhone)
3. Have flowers around the house: Even if they’re artificial! Flowers make people feel calm and at peace. In the spring and summer I have real flowers from my garden on the kitchen counter and on the entry table, but all year long I keep artificial flowers and succulents around the house.
4. Clear clutter: this one is simple, the less mess you have, the nicer your home will look. Hide the clutter or keep a corner for your everyday objects, the only things people should see when they walk through your front door is home decor.
5. Hang curtains that are longer than your windows: What I mean by this is get curtains for your window that slightly hang on the floor. You don’t want people tripping on them, but you want them to lay like a wedding veil.
6. Switch out outdated knobs and pulls: Nothing updates a house instantly like new knobs and pulls. I’m a firm believer that you can transform a kitchen just by updating knobs. Even if you keep your old cabinets, add a fresh layer of paint and some new knobs and you won’t even recognize your kitchen.
7. Use matte black spray paint on bathroom finishes: This is my favorite thing to do! I went a little crazy in my house with this but it instantly made my fixtures look brand new. When I say I spray-painted everything, I mean everything. I painted all of my bathroom light fixtures, my toilet paper holder, my towel holders, and my light switch plates.
